We recently had the privilege of entertaining a past master of the Vintners Company, London.
In order to impress him with a good New Zealand wine, I chose to open a 1998 Cornerstone of Gimblett Road.
The result was wonderful. Jim was mightily impressed with the wine and its ability to age with such grace and purpose. I was impressed with the cellaring effect and that I could find this wine so easily and present it with such confidence.
Everyone was served well. John Forrest, who made the wine, was discussed with approval. New Zealand and Gimblett Road were approved as somewhere to produce good aging wines. Vinot?s ability to age a wine and produce it on call was also praised.
Luckily we still have some Cornerstone tagged and waiting to provide other moments of high pleasure in the future.
