Question – As a Vinote Plus user, should I move my data to Vinote Cellar?

Answer – No matter what program you are using, the answer is yes you should.

There are many advantages of moving your data to Vinote Cellar.  Vinote Plus was an extremely robust but aging program.  Vinote Cellar carries all the clever aspects of the original program and includes the improvements which we have always wanted to add.

Vinote Cellar provides a shared database of wines to choose from, for quickly adding wines to your cellar.  There are now shared tasting notes and shared averages of preferred drinking years.  Looking up a wine to open and removing opened bottles is as easy or easier than it was.  Your data is securely held on a central server which means that you never have to back-up and you can access your cellar information from any computer. Vinote Cellar will continue to be improved and because it is an online program, there will be no need for downloading future updates.

As a VinotePlus user, you should find your most recent wine.TPS file from within either your C:\VinotePlus folder or your C:\VinotePlusBackup folder and send it to this address.   To have your data, from a spread sheet or any other cellar program, imported into Vinote Cellar click here for further information.

In the mean time you can start entering wines into Vinote Cellar; these entries will not be disturbed by any future data imports.  To start using the program you are obliged to register for the new program; your original registration is not carried forward.  Registration is free, so why not give it a go?

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod's. It works well, but isn't as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that's not an issue, but if you're planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod's larger screen and better browser may be important.
