I received a photo of one man's cellar, taken by his frustrated wife. It is of a room full of bottles and car tons in confusing disarray.

 So many people with wonderful collections of wine, allow their possessions to languish like this one. There is no denying the love of the wine. There is no denying the intention to put it into racks and to catalogue it for future selection. But it is never quite at the top of the things to do list.

My concern is for the wine at the bottom of the heap. Will it be opened judiciously? Or will it remain undiscovered for too long?

As with many wine stashes, this cellar would appear to have little in the form of temperature control and has too much light shining into the room. These are not major problems, providing the owner knows the frailty of the wine being stored in less than ideal conditions. This wine looks as if some of it is going to be overlooked in the next few months only to become a lesser wine than was anticipated.
